Arts Fulshear celebrated its 4th Annual Art Walk on Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 12 – 5 PM in Cross Creek Ranch, Fulshear, Texas. The Art Walk showcased artwork and handcrafted items from local artists and artificers.
Arts Fulshear is a community centered non-profit organization that supports art and cultural events, public art and art education to Fulshear and the surrounding areas.
The event flaunted the work of a number of local artists. Some of the artists displaying their work were Debra Lynn Dixon (The Good Stuff,) Maria Clara, Matthew Laird, Atsuko Ellie Teramoto, Linda Sexton (Lux Lu’s Handmade designs.)
The displayed artwork included 2-D and 3-D representations, acrylic, charcoal, oil pastel, chalk pastel, watercolor, mixed media, photography and a lot more.
In addition to art demonstrations and hands-on art activities, the Art Walk featured a children’s art contest, exhibiting original art work with the theme “Things I Love About Texas.” Participants included young residents of Fort bend County (aged 5 to 18.)
The event featured live musical performances by artists like Rick Horner, Sean Heyl, Alii Michele, and the Huggins Elementary School choir.
Food trucks of Anna’s Gourmet Greek, Blizzard Blaster Shaved Ice and Cousin’s Lobster offered a great selection of food available for purchase. Pleasant Hill, Braman’s, and The Growler offered a great selection of beer and wine for tasting and purchase.
Marcia K Simmons, Executive Director of Arts Fulshear said that the event was an effort to appreciate the local artists and children to present their work to the public and the media.
The colorful Art Walk was thoroughly enjoyed by the locals. Adults and kids joined in the fun and festivities with enthusiasm; they are already looking forward to the next Art Walk.
